The closing moments of the show are perfect. After "Black Night," the band takes their bows, and you can see the appreciation in their faces. They know they've done something special. And the crowd knows it too. The applause goes on and on. And then there's silence. And then you realize you've just witnessed a piece of rock history. This is Deep Purple at their best.

The sound quality on this release is superb. The drums are punchy, the bass is deep, the guitar is clear, the keyboards are present. You can hear every detail without losing the energy of the live performance. The mix by Eike Freese and Alexander Dietz captures the spirit of the Budokan—intimate yet powerful. It's a pleasure to listen to on a good system.
《Smoke on the Water》的riff大概是全世界学吉他的人都会弹的第一个段子。但在深紫自己的手里，它依然有生命力。Steve Morse在solo里加入了很多乡村和蓝调的技巧，让这段经典的riff有了新的色彩。Ian Gillan在唱到“Frank Zappa and the Mothers”的时候特意加重了语气，像是在讲述一个老朋友的故事。
