The fact that Deep Purple can still play like this after 50 years is remarkable. Ian Paice is one of the greatest rock drummers ever, and his work on "The Mule" proves it. Those drum fills, that swing, that power—he hasn't lost a thing. And Steve Morse's guitar work is just flawless. He's not trying to be Ritchie Blackmore; he's being himself, and that's enough.

And Don Airey carries Jon Lord's legacy with honor. The version of "Lazy" on this disc is worth the price alone.
